Collaborative Water Conservation Innovation
Securing our water resources is vital for both people and the environment. Discover how a team of William & 玛丽 students, in partnership with Conservation International and local communities, has developed a low-cost water sensor to support community-led watershed monitoring in Madagascar. Applying innovation and interdisciplinary expertise, the student team (Sophia Holincheck, Fiona Gordon, Leo Eichers, Jacob Timko, and Michael Hervien Fenomanarivo) developed the sensor out of materials that can be easily sourced in Madagascar.
With support from Professors Nathanael Kidwell and Jonathan Frey, P.E. of W&M, Maíra Ometto Bezerra, and Dr.Kashif Shaad from the Moore Center for Science, and Jeannicq Randrianarisoa, Rindra Raveloarison, and Leonard Akwany Jr. from Conservation International, the student-led project aims to drive water conservation and restoration efforts both locally and globally.
